My Racing Flags Quilt

Back in 2013, I decided I needed to make a racing themed quilt. After going back and forth on designs, I finally started improv piecing blocks that looked like racing flags. After a week’s worth of work, I had it pieced and quilted. On my way to Road America for the 2013 SCCA National Championship Runoffs, I bound it. And then while I was there, I totally forgot to take a photo of it.

That year, I went to several other tracks, but once again, either forgot to bring it or brought it, but forgot to take a photo.

But, I finally remember to take it to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the 2014 SCCA National Championship Runoffs. Here it is hanging in the famous turn called “The Corkscrew.”

I’m trying my best to remember to bring it to each new race track I visit, so I can add to the album. Here are a few more shots from across the country. If you’d like to see where all I take it, follow along on Instagram using #racingflagsquilt. I will definitely be adding Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2017, and hopefully several others!
